From Passionable Fishing, our Japanese-language journal.

Even if I take the end cap off when fishing, I still want it to look better. In response to that request—from myself—I added colour: a thin resin coat, a mixed enamel colour, then a resin finish.

I have previously finished the EVA grip sections of a Yoihime EX and a Thirty Four 610 with resin. The feeling in use is excellent.

The top rod in the photograph is a Yoihime EX51. I shaped the EVA to fit my hand, then applied green resin. It settles naturally into my hand and feels wonderful to hold. Sensitivity improves a little too.

The middle rod is a Yoihime Ten 54FL. I cut the end cap in half. With the shorter cap, it retains considerable sensitivity even without removing it.

The bottom one is a Yoihime Ten 61L. To be frank, I find it noticeably tip-heavy. Fitting the halved, resin-finished cap makes the fishing feel much better.

It leaves me grinning. Very satisfied.
