Keep the curiosity.

Some people enjoy fishing. Some enjoy making things. Here, the two tend to get tangled together.
Avantgarde Fishing is our English-language home for readers around the world: a husband and wife, days by the sea, and a continuing conversation with rods, reels, lures, and currents.
Our fishing world, in English
Much of our fishing follows ajing—lure fishing for horse mackerel—in the fast-moving waters of Amakusa. Our curiosity also takes us into larger tackle, seabass, handmade lures, and the small details that change how a rod feels in the hand.
A grip is cut back. Two soft lures become one rig. A new reel makes a wonderful first impression, then raises different questions a few trips later. Those changes of mind are part of the story.
Passionable Fishing: our Japanese journal
We publish our Japanese-language articles at passionable.net under the name Passionable Fishing. Avantgarde Fishing brings those experiences and ideas to an international readership in English.
When an article here mentions “Passionable”, it refers to that Japanese site and its original stories. The name combines passion with the ability to keep it alive—for work, for play, for the next curious idea.
