From Passionable Fishing, our Japanese-language journal.

I get a bite, but cannot hook the fish. Again and again, the same thing happens.

When it comes to that… I switch to Momoaji.

And, of course… I do not catch anything.

Except that is not what happens. I do catch them. Every time, in my experience. Yes, it always works for me.

When the fishing is going normally, though, the larger soft lure I was using before gets noticed sooner and eaten sooner. Momoaji is small and does not stand out so much under ordinary conditions.

A small hook, without a jighead

This lure comes out when the fish are extremely reluctant to bite. To make it still more reliable, I add one little adjustment: no jighead, just a size 8 Split Shotter hook—a relatively small hook.

To my mind, there is nothing there to feel unnatural. If possible, I choose a speckled, ami-style colour from the lure range. It is my secret trick, the one I count on whatever the situation.

For everyday fishing, though, Aji Caro Swamp in krill-type colours, Fisit Nude, and similar lures tend to get eaten sooner.
