From Passionable Fishing, our Japanese-language journal.

Judging by the frequency of bites, my best double soft-lure combination from summer into autumn is Aji Adder Pro in clear, paired with Fisit Nude in Ginpun Shirasu—a silver-flake whitebait colour.

Both are clear-based lures. Perhaps that is what makes them seem least out of place to the fish.

From my results with a single soft lure, I see the seasons this way:

  • Late summer to early autumn: a smaller, whitebait-style Fisit Nude.
  • Mid-autumn to late autumn: Aji Adder Pro.
  • Winter: ami-style lures, imitating small planktonic shrimp.

In winter, when I scoop seawater into my fishing bucket, I sometimes find large numbers of fully grown krill in it.

It makes me feel that I need to choose the size and type of soft lure with both the seasonal prey and its stage of growth in mind. The double soft-lure rigs I make need to match that, too.

For summer, I have high hopes for a pair of Fisit Nude lures, both in Ginpun Shirasu.

It is already mid-August. Things should be starting soon.

For the rigging method, see the step-by-step double soft-lure photographs.
