From Passionable Fishing, our Japanese-language journal.
March 2019 — Komebuchi, Amakusa.
Mine: 40 cm.
My wife’s: 44.5 cm.
I think we were both using M-Caro carriers of around 7 g. The fish were beyond the distance we could reach with a jighead alone.
It was a stormy day. Bait anglers are usually at the tip of the point, so days like this were our only opportunity. Or perhaps I should say that it is on rough days that the giga aji come in.
A recollection of a March 2019 trip, published in April 2020. The weather and access described are part of that historical account.
Related: the aji size I enjoy when fishing for numbers.
